I am a born and bred Whakatane local. I graduated from Whakatane High School in 1974 and headed up to Auckland where I completed my BCom majoring in Accounting and Tax in 1979. I was admitted to the New Zealand Society of Accountants and became a Chartered Accountant (CA), the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, gaining the (ACIS) qualification in 1983, alongside completing the requirements for being a Certified Management Accountant (CMA). In 1990, I was admitted to the New Zealand College of Management.
In addition to accumulating these many acronyms, I have worked at both large and small commercial and familial accounting businesses around New Zealand. I have worked overseas and developed a flair for business development and personal growth. The “scars on his back” often mean that I can provide a quick accurate solution to many business challenges for clients.
My hobbies, alongside nurturing businesses, include a most impressive vegetable garden, local fresh and salt water fishing, and tripping about the country as a “motor-homer” with my wife, Janet.
Growing the business and investment portfolios’ of local people, families and businesses makes sound economic sense for the Bay of Plenty, and I look forward to working with you at Legacy in the future.
