Professional Trustees

Protecting your assets for the future

Trusts are created for many different reasons and are not just for wealthy people. They are a powerful legal entity that serves many purposes, the most important is asset protection or a way of protecting assets after your death. There can also be tax benefits of a trust, depending on your personal situation.

A trust transfers legal ownership of your assets to the “Trustees”, and who you select as your trustees can be crucial for the administration of your Trust not just today, but also into the future. We often find this is either a close friend or family member, as you want someone you trust to be in control, however this can lead to internal pressures within a family if this is left with one or just some, and doesn’t have that independence, or knowledge to undertake what is required. This is where we can step in to create and implement your succession plan.

We meet with you annually to go over your financial statements, so our annual trustee meeting is ticked off at the same time. It can also be very useful to have a professional trustee who needs to sign off on things, it just means things get the extra check before the go button is pushed (which is very helpful when it comes to BrightLine issues for property sales as this can be mitigated ahead of time). It could end up saving you more than you realise!
